Quick! Name two of the most beloved desserts or treats of all time. Right! Ice cream and rice krispies treats. Of course if you use something other than that name brand cereal you’ve got to say something like “crisped rice treats” or “krispy rice treats” but you get the idea.

I don’t know of anyone who doesn’t like either of these scrumptious delicacies so what could be better than ice cream or krispy treats? Ice cream AND krispy treats. Delish.com puts this on their list of the top frozen dessert ideas of all time. Using the crisped rice treats as bowls to hold scoops of your favorite ice cream. All I can say is “genius!”

If you’ve ever made the krispy treats you know you melt marshmallows in butter and add the cereal and stir. Once ready, you can shape these treats into bowls and let them set up in bowl shapes. Then when you’re ready, just take your favorite ice cream and drop a scoop into your “bowls.” The great thing about this is that there’s no leftovers. Once your kids (or you!) have eaten all the ice cream you simply eat the bowl!

This is one of those so-simple-it’s-almost-stupid recipes that is easy and fun. It’s also a recipe that is tailor made for summer. It doesn’t take much time and it’s a great crowd pleaser.

The only “trick” is the technique for shaping the treats into bowls. Take any bowl (you choose the size) and line it with plastic wrap. Then press the krispy treat mixtuire onto the wrap. When it solidifies remove it and you’ll have yourself a bowl-shaped kispy treat ready to take on whatever ice cream you want to serve.

Give it a try and let me know what the reaction is. I have no doubt it will be thumbs up all around.
